How are mini implants different from standard sized implants?
A standard sized dental implant requires a certain amount of bone structure to place the implant. A mini implant needs less space, which allows for the use of a site that has less than adequate bone. Mini implants can often support a denture immediately.
Mini implants do not require surgery like conventional implants so the prosthetic tooth can be loaded within hours and the healing process is much faster. Healing time is reduced from months to days. Modifications to the denture are made on the same day the implants are placed. You can begin wearing it with your new implants the same day. Attachments are placed on the underside of the denture that connects to the implants. When placed in the mouth, the denture snaps onto the implants keeping it stable and secure.
